Amazing Crock Pot Cannabis Tincture

Crock Pot Cannabis Tincture

This recipe is for a fully activated cannabis tincture. Place a few drops under the tongue to be immediately felt. If swallowed it will subsequently be absorbed by the body in the GI tract but will take longer.
Ingredients (Increase the recipe by 8.5ml glycerin per gram)
1/4 oz well ground high quality cannabis
1 cup food grade Vegetable Glycerin (commonly found at drugstores and pharmacies)
Tools
Cheesecloth
Glass jar
Crock pot
A glass dropper bottle (for dosing)
Method

Grind the cannabis as finely as possible and place it in the glass jar pour over the Glycerin and stir it all together. Put the jar in the crock pot and add water around the jar.

Place the top on the crock pot and begin heating it, start with low for the first half hour. Stir every 10 minutes with a whisk really whisking it up. Drop the temperature to warm and let the mixture cook for 6 hours or longer whisking often. if it is too hot, turn it to warm 15 minutes then off for 45, warm for 15, off for 45.

Once your mixture is through cooking, pour it through cheesecloth and into a bowl. After you have poured it through squeeze the excess from the cheesecloth careful not to break it. I will suggest using gloves for this, however I didn't and I will assure you, this stuff can go through your skin and make you Super Stoned. Just a heads up.

OK, so here is what I got out of my experiment, a dark green vicious fluid that 1/2 teaspoon is equivalent to 3 Marinol pills. It is way better though since it contains the other 69 cannabinoid types as well.

My buddy who has a prescription for and takes Marinol on a daily basis came by and bottomed up a 1/2 teaspoon. Below is how he described the effects of the glycerin as it compares to Marinol.

  • 5 minutes in he said he felt it in his face, pulling a smile and relaxed eyebrows
  • 15 minutes in he said that it is the equivalent to 3 Marinol pills, he usually only takes two
  • 30 minutes in he said that he could feel it and it was much more rounded or complete than he experienced with Marinol, he said it felt like an edible but in a very manageable dose
  • 1 hour later he wanted to know how I made the stuff
  • 3 hours later he said he still felt good but the effects were beginning to become less noticeable
  • 5 hours later he said the effects were gone and he felt great, not too tired and not weird.

SO I think that High speed extraction of THC can be done using Vegetable glycerin in a double boil and perhaps a Crock Pot.  below is a picture of the cannabis after the experiment
It appeared to me that there was still THC on the plant material, so I cooked it in butter for a few hours and made some mac and cheese. It definitely still held some THC because I got extremely high but I believe that a longer period in the glycerin or a fruit press for extraction would be needed to be sure.

Lab Results - Success - 5 drops and I was feeling great

  1. I cooked up a cup of glycerin, 1/4 oz. herb in sealed jar in water for about 7 hours. delightful results, then used the leftover greenery for cannabutter. it only takes me 3 droppers full and i'm good for a night of four hours sleep- if i'm lucky.

    1. Hello, Anon,
Question(s): Did you follow these steps, exactly, or did you first heat the Buds a bit before putting them, crushed, into the jar with Glycerin?
*Since you "started" with 8ozs (1 cup) Glycerin-How much did you get "back?"-(How much Glycerin did you "loose" using this process?)
Will ANY glass jar work?-or-should I use a "mason jar" or ceramic desert ramiken, I'm concerned with putting something in the crockpot with no liquid.
I'm very eager to try this..
Thanx for any advice you can give.

    2. You didn't heat it. It won't have near the sleepy effect you may be seeking.

  2. Papa K,
Have you thought of trying a pressure cooker / slow cooker combo?

  3. How long will it last in the bottle?
    Does it require refrigeration?

    1. glycerin tincturs will last 2-4 months in a dark glass bottle. alcoholic tinctures last almost 2 years

doesnt need to be refrigerated. just in a dark place.

  4. I am so eager to try this as I cannot tolerate alcohol..I have 2 questions.
-Having seen a few methods of making this, the other preferred on "heats" the Cannabis @ 320F for about 9-10 minutes before putting it in the jar..I am curios the result if one were to heat the Cannabis before adding it to the jar.

(1)"CAN YOU heat the Cannabis at 320F(+/-) for 10 minutes before putting it in the jar?
(2)-What should the Temp of the Crockpot be?..(190..200F?)
    Thank you very much.

    1. 1. u can heat the bud. its called decarbing the bud. usual is 10 mins at 320 degrees

      2. the crockpot shud be 180-200. thc cooks of at 180 but as long as its in the glycerin the crockpot itself is ok to have up to 200 degrees. most ccrockpots have a keep warm setting that is perfect.

  5. so i tried this, using 7 grams of bud and 4 oz of glycerine.. needless to say i was trying to make a strong batch.

    following steps
    - cook ground bud at 315 degrees in oven for 8 mins on cookie sheet and tinfoil.

    - mixed bud and glycerin into wide mouth jar

    - placed in dry crockpot for 5 hours on low- stiring every hour

    - strained the mix with a metal tea strainer. make sure all liquid is extracted.

i let a hole teaspoon of tincture sit under my tounge for 2 mins then swallowed and being a heavy smoker, it doesnt "hit" u like u think it does. its a very medicinal, put you in your seat relaxing type of feeling. works great for pains. not "potheads"

    2. Glycerin is sweet. That said, it's sometimes used in cooking to prevent things from getting too hard. It's great in cakes & brownies (keeps them soft & fluffy), gets mixed into icing to keep it from getting crusty & could well be used in gummies but is probably not the best bet for hard candy. Search it out, recipe-wise & just substitute in the tincture whenever you want to get it on, keeping in mind that if something needs to be cooked at too high a temp, the meds can vape out during cooking...

  6. oh and i forgot to add.. as you can imagine, the better the bud the better the tincture. use quality cannabis!

  7. @Anon-Thanx alot for the "quick-Glycerin-Crockpot" tincture recipe. Since I mnade the Master Wu, (alcohol) tincture-I now realize the importance of pre-heating the bud to begin the releasin of THCA into THC..Don't get me wrong, the alcohol tincture works verry well, but, until now-I was not confident enough to actually make the Glycerin tincture.
Thanx again-with 4 Neuro Muscular issues, these tinctures are far more beneficial for me.
